About
From the age of 5 I knew I wanted to be involved in birthwork. I watched TLC’s ‘A Baby Story’ and ‘Bringing Home Baby’ any chance I could. My first birth experience was watching my eldest god-son enter the world. During my undergraduate years I was a volunteer in McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital obstetrics unit where I observed my first c-section and a few other vaginal births. I was a rape advocate for Women Helping Women. My love of understanding the mind helped me earn my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. I was a NICU cuddler at Mt. Carmel East Hospital which enhanced my learning of premature babies and newborns. I have a nursing education and I thrived and felt the most alive during the OB rotation. During the unprecedented time of COVID I leaned into my entrepreneurial spirit and pursued my postpartum and birth Doula certifications, and Lamaze certification.
With observing the western-world medicine so closely and reading the “facts” taught to me from nursing school, I noticed so many racial disparities in healthcare that my passion grew to be a part of the solution: An advocate, educator, companion, and professional supports person for People of Color through my birthwork and Doula Services!

During those times of feeling ‘stuck’ we discuss your emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental aspects of your life and create a plan to get you where you want to go.

"Being a mother and a black woman are two amazing titles that I am blessed to have. Unfortunately not everyone knows that or sees it that way. With my son I did NOT have a positive experience in the hospital. I was ignored, patronized and among other things I was discriminated against. When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted a different experience. One that was positive and would bring good memories. Of course, having anxiety, I changed everything I could to better my experience this time around. Researching online I found out about doulas and what they do. I saw Erica was a doula and she gave me so much helpful information. Having her by my side during my pregnancy and my natural home birth was amazing. She was helpful and hands on. She gave advice and tips ranging from yoga to aromatherapy. She was a major help and even held me up while I birthed my daughter. Erica also supported and assisted me in the weeks after my pregnancy. She entertained my toddler, made me healthy dessert, and even gave me and dad a few hours of peaceful sleep. Whatever I needed help with she was there ready and eager. It was a game changer having her as my doula. I will forever be thankful."
